Next year I’m planning on going to one of the biggest music festivals in Europe, the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. I’m not sure who I’m going with yet, but I’m pretty sure that I’m going to have my best friend with me. When we get there, we’re going to sleep in tents. Now setting up a tent isn’t that hard, but females arn’t exactly expert at these sort of things. No need to worry, I’ve found the perfect tent for us to bring; The tent that pitches itself.

How it works (ideally)

All you have to do to put it together is unclip it, throw it in the air and it will assemble itself. I just think this is brilliant. It’s also easy to fold back so when we’re not in the camping area, we can just easily fold it and put it back into our car.

There’s a series of these Quechua SECONDS tents, but the keywords that apply to all of them are: light, waterproof, 15 seconds to pitch and of course, easy to use. If you ask me, they are pretty inexpensive as well with prices between £35 and £50.

For more info go to Gizmag’s article or the Quechua Seconds tents product page.

I’ve just discovered that Samsung sells laptops, and I really fancy the models in their Q-Series. They look fabulous and all seem very portable. Just look at the Q30 Plus which was named the world’s thinnest. The newest addition to this family is the Q40. I don’t know if the pink one is the default one, but that’s the one I want;

Samsung Pink Q40
(The pink matches my layout…)

Pros:
+ It looks reallly good (it’s pink).
+ It weighs 1,15kg! That’s nothing!
+ 60 GB space and 512 MB RAM is sort of perfect for my use.
+ DVD burner, bluetooth, wireless, etc

Cons:
- It’s waay too expensive (around £1300)
- Battery life is 3 hours and that kinda sucks (since I compare everything to Apple).
- I don’t think they’re selling Samsung laptops i Norway at all.

Working out seems to be more popular than ever. Around in my town there are gyms popping up everywhere, and people are actually joining them too ( :P ). The healthy life style is definitely “the thing”, and in addition eating right, working out is the criteria to get there. People in the technology business have also picked this little piece of information up, and so now the latest trend in technology is sports.

As many of you might know, Apple and Nike have recently joined forces in making a shoe that works together with the iPod Nano. The project is called Nike + iPod and it’s aimed at people who like to run. At this site you can see an ad that shows how the cooperation between the Nike shoe, and iPod Nano works. The shoe isn’t the only product from Nike that is apart of this project, they also have appearal (with slots for the iPod Nano of course) and accessories. Apple are doing their share by selling songs on their Music Store that will optimize your work-out.

Tune your run

Sennheiser also thinks there is money to be make here, and so they have made headphones that will optimize your work-out by hopefully staying comfortably on the entire time you’re running. The headphones are also water resistant and sweat proof (same thing when you think about it…). The Sennheiser Sport Line consists of 6 headphones in different shapes and prices, but the two things in common are the stylish design and the green colour.

All the six headphones

SE W710i with accessoriesWhile Sennheiser is going for green, Sony Ericsson’s designers have lately shown a liking for the colour orange with their Walkman series. The SE W710i is an upcoming cellphone that has the active crowd as its target group. It competes with the Nike+ project though I’m not sure it’s as advanced. Its fitness program consists of a step counter that you can use when you walk, it can measure speed and distance when you’re running and it also have a calorie counter. In addition to this, the headphones are designed to have a good fit, and you get a arm band where you can attach the phone.

In closing, don’t you just feel inspired to get your old running shoes that you used in PE, and just start running? Yeah, me neither…!

When I was younger, Sega was known to me as the name of a video game console where you could play the coolest game ever - Sonic. I never had a Sega though, because it was what mainly the cool kids had. My brother and I on the other hand, were stuck with playing Super Mario Bros and shooting birds on a Nintendo (NES).

But enough with the reminiscing, because that was a long time ago and I can’t even remember when I last saw a blue, spinning hedgehog, let alone anything Sega related… Untill a couple of weeks ago. So what this blog entry is about is what I discovered a couple of weeks ago, a rather new invention from the Sega Corporation. It has nothing to do with video game consoles and it’s pretty unpractical if you ask me (so in one way this blog entry resembles my previous one a bit). It looks like the robot in “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy“, only a lot smaller, and it goes by the name Mu-Bot. What is it you ask? Maybe this picture will explain it to you:

How the Mu-Bot looks and works.

The Mu-Bot is a robot that has earplugs as its arms and it’s designed to match an iPod, though it probably can be used with any digital audio player that has a right plug. The rest of the robot is there merely for decoration, and is supposed to be hanging around your neck so I don’t think I should even call it a robot. Though it’s not that decorative, it sure is cute. The target group of this robot must be 4 to 11 year-old-girls, because I can’t imagine anyone else who could possibly want use it. If you want to buy this robot, you’ll have to wait untill December when it’s released, and the price will be about €17 (¥2500).

Compare its size to an iPod

(From looking at this picture, the earplugs look very big, almost half the size of the iPod, don’t you think?)

In closing I would just like to point out that Sega 1996 and Sega 2006 are two very different corporations.

Another long period with any updates… It’s finally summer holidays now and I’m leaving on Thursday (i.e. in two days) so there’s going to be another dead period without updates. I’m going to Croatia and I won’t be back untill July 10th.

The gadget which I will be presenting today is one that my mother would approve of. Not only is it cool and fun, but it’s also somewhat educational. When searching for a unique World Cup gadget, I found loads of interesting things, but this was the only thing that wasn’t so English nor boring. Dudes and dudettes (I watched a re-run of Step by Step yesterday…), let me present to you a World Cup trophy replica which plays the 25 nations’ national anthems (with full orchestration!!):

Anthem Ball

Heh, that was an anti-climax. To play a national anthem, all you have to do is click on one of the flags on the ball. When I was reading the description page, I noticed that it had the Norwegian anthem, and Norway’s not even in the World Cup this year. So from this I can only assume that it’s either flawed or an old invention. Nonetheless, it’s pretty cool (and educational) though I’m probably going to get sick of listening to the anthems at (probably) bad sound quality. It’s not expensive at all though, so to quote the description page: “If you only buy one World Cup gadget this year, make it the Anthem Ball.”

What team are you guys cheering for this year? I’m with Argentina! :D

Customize!

07Jun06

I’ve decided to add another category to my blog: “Customize”.
It’s getting more and more popular to have unique gadgets these days, and there are loads of websites out there that are trying to meat the demands. You can find anything from flowery applience skins to fluffy iPod skins.

Since I made the entry about laptops and the pink iBook, many people have asked me where they could get one similar.

I’ve found one site that seems pretty reliable, and it’s called ColorWare. Not only will they colour your iBook/MacBook, but they can also colour iPods, Mac Minis, iMacs and Dells. It’s a bit pricey, but that’s understandable since their service is pretty unique. Go here to see “how” they color the machines.

If I were to colour my iPod, it would look something like this:

Colorware iPod

But as mentioned before, it’s a little pricey and I’m not rich, so I’ll have to manage with the black iPod for now. Not that I’m complaining =D

They ship to the US, but also some international countries.

Last couple of weeks have been so stressful with mock-exams in English, Norwegian, mathematics and physics. The two last ones were the hardest, especially physics which I had today. I don’t know if it was good enough to pass, if I don’t, I’ll have to study this summer and take another similar test at the start of next year in order to get to start 13th grade (last grade of high school is 13th). But the worst part isn’t passing or not passing. The worst part is that I’m was so used to getting good grades, and now they’re only mediocre and I can’t stand it! After the physics mock exam today, the mood in our class was like the saddest it had ever been, so me and a couple of friends decided to go shopping and just get stuff for ourselves to make us feel better. It worked, so I’m not so sad anymore. Nothing I can do about it anyway.

(/personal stuff)

Earlier I said that I wanted the Samsung E530 phone, but I’ve changed my mind. Now it’s the Sony Ericsson phone SE Z550i.

Why I want Z550i instead is that it’s a new phone (it’s not out until August actually), it’s cheaper and it has just the features that I need. One of the features this phone has that E530 doesn’t, is triband. Now if I decide to move to the US, I won’t have to change phone. I am actually planning on going to college in the States after high school. That is if I pass the physics exam next May… I have half the amount of money I need for the phone. Now I just need 1000kr (170 dollars) before August. *sigh*

Sunny entry

12May06

Spring has finally started in Norway (it was about time!). The last week it’s been up to 30°C (about 86°F) everyday outside - in Bergen! The town that’s known for it’s 200 days of rain each year. I couldn’t just let that get by unnoticed in my blog, so I decided to do an entry about things that we use when it’s sunny, and what better things are there than blenders! I loove smoothies and milkshakes, so I’ve looked around for some cute blenders to make them in.

Kitchen Aid BlenderKitchen Aid Cook for the Cure®
Limited Edition Pink Ultra Power Blender

By buying this blender you will support the fight against breastcancer, get a mega cute blender and the possibility of enjoying yummy summer drinks. Who says you can’t have it all? It can be bought here or on Amazon.com.

Jenn Air Attrezzi Blender
Jenn-Air Atrezzi Blender
What I like so much with this blender, is that the mug is so pretty, that if you have a party and decide to make a drink with the blender, you don’t have to take drink into a new mug after blending it. You can just serve it in the mug that comes with. It’s a little expensive though, but maybe something you could buy as a gift?

Hamilton Beach
Hamilton Beach Moroccan Red Drink Mixer
This is more like a drink mixer than a blender, but it’s so cute. It can also be used to make stuff like pancakes and omelettes in addition to all those yummy drinks. And it seems small, but rooms almost 1 litre, so you can fill a couple cups with it.

So what’s your favourite summer drink? I like advocado milkshake, it’s the best!

I’m sorry but I probably won’t update the next couple of weeks. I just got soo much homework (I shouldn’t even be writing this entry) and not enought time to do them… And if I don’t get them done, I won’t pass this grade… Eek!

Let's Be Friends

You know how annoying it is when you’re browsing online and stumble upon webpages that are absolutely impossible to view because they’re designed for 800×600 screens and the Internet Explorer webbrowser? Lately though, I’ve noticed something that annoys me even more; website that are designed to only look good in one browser on purpose (usually Firefox). The text “Looks best in Firefox and Opera” makes me so angry (the anger partially even motivated me to make this blogentry :P )! It’s one thing that people who don’t know better make less compatible layouts, but when people who know how to code properly intentionally make layouts where they’re not bothered with how it looks in all browsers, it just makes me so frustrated. Why would you make yourself look like such a stupid hipocrite?

It’s things like this that I’m referring too:

In Windows Mail Live I get this message:
Windows Live Mail

People should accept the fact that some people prefers IE though others don’t. I use Firefox and I do think it’s the best browser out there. But I would never force my personal taste on anyone. Sometimes when I surf around the web, I feel like I’m in a browser apartheid (extreme comparison there…). Is it really that hard to make your site viewable by all? If it’s just laziness that is stopping you, I think you should get over yourself because it would be a win-win situation if everybody’s daily surfing routine got less restricted.

Be aware of that this entry is very generalizing, and I do know that there are single cases that don’t apply to my rant :D

List craze

22Apr06

It is time for me to get off my lazy ass and update this blog! I’m going to try and get as much things done today as possible. I’ve already been to a meeting, shopping, and now I’m blogging which is the 3rd thing on my to-do list.

Speaking lists, this entry is for all of you who love making lists. Wishlists, to-do lists, pro-con lists and so on. I’ve browsed around the internet and have found loads of great web 2.0 sites that lets you make lists. Here are some of them:

Simple lists
Remember The Milk, voo2do, Ta-da lists
The things these services have in common are that they’re very easy to use, have a simple design and can be displayed both privately and public. In addition to these features, voo2do and Remember The Milk has some extra features which ta-da lists does not have. They have categories, a more advanced priority system, due dates, estimation of how long it takes and much more. Out of these three, I have to say that I think Remember The Milk looks best overall.

Object lists
Listal: Make lists out of the DVDs you own, movies you’ve seen, books you’ve read, CDs you have and games you have.
Synergy Matters: The three different list sites are MyFilmz, Reader² and MyProgs. I personally use Reader² and like it a lot!
List of Bests: Make lists of your favourite books, music, movies, places, people, and more.

43 lists
These sites have been made by the same people, and are similar in many ways. The do have some unique things about them though.
43 Things: Make a lists with 43 (or less) things that you want to do. Write entries with updates on the progress, post pictures, look at what other people are wanting, etc. Very fun site indeed! Check out my (unfinished) list.
43 Places: Name is quite self-explanatory. Make a list with the 43 places you want to visit the most.
43 People: List 43 people that you want to meet or have met.

Well that’s it for this time. There are many more good sites where you can make lists, but I needed to stop somewhere. But check out the sites, and show me your lists :P

Happy Earth day!
